Learn to Play Again!

When I was writing Fantastic After 40, I had just given myself permission to “play” again. I had spent way too many years driving my sons to athletic practices and competitions then sitting on the bench when I needed to get active myself. When I restarted my active lifestyle, I first went back to all the things I had loved as a girl: dance, swimming, diving, biking, hiking, skating and walking. I also took up a few new sports: kayaking, jet skiing, and tennis.

What is something you have always loved? Go do it again! What is something you have always wanted to try? Go for it! I made a deal with one of my mentees who was a tennis pr. I said, “I will teach you how to be a strong woman leader if you teach me how to play tennis.” It was a great trade! Recently, I reconnected with my college pal, Debbie Douglass and we teamed to host an all women’s kayak trip in Alaska. We hosted 2 back to back weeks last year and we have a few spots left for this year’s May 29-June 2, 2011. I would love to have you come “play” in America’s last frontier! New Year, New You, New Hope

Much has been changing here at Seasoned Sisters Headquarters, or what we affectionately call, “The Joy Zone”. We are making many changed on the technical side so we can communicate with all of you fantastic over 40 women—worldwide. We decided a blog will be a faster, easier way, to communicate with you, and I will post more often to the Seasoned Sister Facebook page—and we hope to be “tweeting” soon. We will of course continue to email news and helpful information to our members (so be sure and order Fantastic After 40 – you get a free membership included!)  We are looking at what events we will be hosting in the coming year, our Girlfriend Gatherings (those fun one night events in various locations) and our vacations with a purpose (like last year’s 2 women only kayak trips to Alaska) were a hit, so now we are setting our sights forward on more fun things to do together.

Isn’t that what the New Year is all about? Figuring out where you are, where you want to be and how to get there? I put the Christmas picture of our family in this blog because my family is one of my “sustaining motivations”, as my friend Carole Lewis Founder of First Place 4 Health refers to those motivations that help you say “Yes!” to the good and “No” to the distractions.  I want to also link you to www.Love-Wise.com. I will be sending emails and posts on some relationship tools and skills, so you might want to link in there as well. Check out Pam’s Pick’s for my recommended resources I come across on my travels. Also on www.Love-wise.com , under the articles link,  is the goal worksheet Bill and I use every year that has kept us in love and building a strong life and family together for 31 years now. The worksheet is called: Your Best Year Ever. I encourage you to download it and write out your plan and path for 2011.  My Seasoned Sisters small group will be sharing our goals together this month! In the coming days I will be sharing my goals, hopes, dreams with you here on this blog—so get ready for a “fantastic” year all you over 40 bffs! The rest of life is the best of life!

Choosin joy!
Pam
